Dear Soquel Vineyards Wineclub Members:
Paul, Jon and I have made, enjoyed, respected, and in a sense, breathed wine all of our lives. It is perhaps the world’s oldest occupation and art form, yet our fascination and determination surrounding wine emerge afresh. In some way it is as if we have reconfigured this old occupation into the production of world class wines.
Hence, the World Wine Championships, having begun in 1981, an annual competition in which seasoned judges evaluate wines, recently awarded Soquel Vineyards a gold medal for our 2007 Chardonnay. Produced from the Meyley Vineyard in the Bonny Doon, Santa Cruz Mountains, it is described as superlative quality providing a world class experience. So here’s our best to our wine club members: two bottles of our 2007 Chardonnay. Enjoy!
Nowhere could spring be more evident than at our vineyard which is embellished by a carpet of crimson red clovers. The soft and delicate flowers make a good ground cover, and also feed the vines a healthy amount of nitrogen. Amidst our blistered hands, sunburned necks, and aching backs, Paul, Jon and I have finished training the new tender shoots of Nebbiolo and Pinot Noir vines, which reach deep into the earth for natural fertilizers. We have been dispersing organic flower oil, known as stylit and sun dried seaweed from the ocean, which are both packed with natural nutrients, every seven days.
During this special spring time, please know that you, your families, and friends are fondly invited to Soquel Vineyards to stroll through the vineyard (a real springtime treat!), marvel at the ocean views, chase hummingbirds with your children, barrel sample Italian wines, and savor memorable varietals on a spring afternoon. Paul, Jon and I are grateful for your commitment to Soquel Vineyards’ wines.
Most genuinely,
Peter Bargetto
