Dear Soquel Vineyards Wine Club Members:
Equanimity in the tender shoots at Soquel Vineyards suggests a steadiness undisturbed. This new growth brings out a balance of beauty, promise, and environmental goodness atop Soquel Vineyards' sun-drenched hills overlooking the Monterey Bay. Winemakers and growers, Paul, Jon, and I work in unison with the earth, farming organically, applying regularly stylet oil and nutrient rich seaweed to the earth and vines. Attentive to rendering outstanding wines, we purposely limit our production. Our vineyard will yield approximately 300 cases of Pinot Noir, and 30 of Nebbiolo. Here on this soil, Soquel Vineyards will honorably harvest its first crop in October of 2008.
Equanimity in Soquel Vineyards' 2006 Vintage Pinot Noir suggests a balanced product of which we are most proud. While Pinot Noir is the great red wine of France's Burgundy region, it has come to be Soquel Vineyards' passion as we have consistently produced outstanding Pinots. May this Pinot Noir shipment create a lasting impression on your palate as well as in your memory. It has an intense black cherry aroma, is full-bodied and rich but not heavy. It is loaded with substantial flavor of cinnamon and vanilla, yet it is delicate, and neither acidic nor tannic. This special 2006 Pinot Noir is a blend from the Lester and Mun's Vineyards, both in the Santa Cruz Mountains. Aged in French oak, its bouquet is wrapped with layers of creamy, coconut, sweet wood. Most importantly, enjoy!
Equanimity in wine suggests for Paul, Jon and me a promising balance in life. As Soquel Vineyards vigorously strives for this balance at every step, from earth to glass, we encourage you to join us: roam our vineyard, barrel sample our Pinots, Cabernets, or Chardonnays. And perhaps, most importantly, share in comradeship at Soquel Vineyards boutique winery nestled in the Santa Cruz Mountains.
In deep gratitude,
Peter Bargetto
